Outlook: The Crockett Cougars play hard smash mouth football. They talk with their mouths and can't do it on the field. The Cougars missed the playoffs because of their seventh consectutive loss to Bowie. Crockett have shot themselves many times in the foot over the years and this season have already gotten off to a bad start. Big man Raphael Sterns hopes to fill in the void left by inconsistent Vincent Roland and bring Crockett rushing ability back to the days of Franklin Taylor. QB Cameron Slown is back after passing for 1,170 yards last season and this year's favorite target will be WR Ceasar Silva, who caught 18 passes 228 yards and one touchdown. Last year, Crockett suffered the loss of FB Jeremy Brune and had to to use Silva right away. Blocking up front will be all district OT Rory Llewellyn (6'3" 250 lbs). Defensivewise the Coogs are headline with LB Antoine Simpson and WR/DB Anthony Arellano. They made Crockett the sitxth ranked defense in central Texas last season. Look for Arellano to be a big threat on offense too.

Strentgh: Defense. Crockett has always been known to keep the game close with their big plays on defense and special teams. Slown's passing ability has improved since his sophomore year, the year his brother Michael ran the offense. With the rep of Slown being better than his brother , the Coogs need big plays out speedy recievers Silva and Arellano to make up a good tandem.

Weakness: Their attitude. Crockett talks a lot of trash and can't ever walk the walk, when it comes down to playing. They need to snap their 7-game losing streak to Bowie before doing anything else. Their inconsistency to play well week after week is another problem. The speed and talent is there but they have a bad attitude and they beat Lanier one week, lost to Leander the next. The beat New Braunfels but lost to Bowie. They need to maintain their playing skills.
