Outlook: Cedar Park opened last year with only 9th and 10th graders. This year they've added a new grade, making the school a 3 level education with 11th, 10th, and 9th. Next year, the Timberwolves will field a senior class and be placed in most likely a 4A district. The T'Wolves went undefeated as sophomores in JV competetion but got wasted in 2A and A competition. Last season the T'Wolves defeated Round Rock and Leander in JV competition. This year, the wolves return with 16 juniors. QB/LB Michael Swoda will lead the offense. The biggest key addition to Cedar Park is sophomore RB Quinton Smith. He has break away speed and look for him to be the main ball carrier. Last season the running back position was held by Raymond Ferguson. His trouble ways and a knee injury lost him the job. TE Aaron Lyons will be Swoda's top reciever while FB DeMarrero Matthew will be the lead blocker for Smith. This year the T'Wolves look stonger and faster. With the help of a great off season workout, the T-'Wolves avenged two season losses last year with victories over Navasota and state powerhouse Thorndale. Look for the offense to be explosive in the seasons' opener vs. 2A Holland. This year, the T'Wolves looked to do the pushing around. After being whipped and knocked around by Hutto, Holland, Jarrell, the defense figures to match-up well with team captain FB/LB Micahel McGuinness. Also on the much improved defense are players with the ability to play both sides of the ball. TE/LB Barrett Vandegrift, WR/DB Aaron Lyons, WR/LB Brian Crawford, FB/DE Darren Matthew, OG/DT Eric George, WR/DB Edder Holguin, C/LB Jordan Minor, QB/LB Stephen Shaffer, and RB/DB Will McDowell . The line is young and could pose problems but twins Erik and Justin Packheiser will lead the bunch. The OL is built up with Ethan Baludoin, Jeremy Warren, Travis Farst, and Ryan Sokorski. This year, Cedar Park has a great feeling of posting a winning record. Aside from the varsity games against Holland, Hutto, Salado, and Jarrell, they will also play against new schools opening up this season. From Round Rock I.S.D., the Stony Point Tigers will make a visit and Lago Vista will play once at CPHS and once as the home team at Leander's Bible Stadium. The season finale at Tyson Field in Waco against Plano West. Plano West senior highs school is coming from the elite group of Plano I.S.D. teams that include the Plano Wildcats and Plano East Panthers. Rounding out the schedule are St. Joseph's in Victoria and Sacred Heart in Halletsville. They will play all their home games at Leander's A.C. Bible Memorial Jr. Stadium except for the two games against Lago Vista.
Strength: Their team unity. The T'Wolves practiced hard, got stronger, faster, and older. They defeated every team on their level and competed against every varsity team. This year the figure to dominate with a sound running game.
Weakness: Backup players and lack of experience. That plague them last season. Being a new school and all is all about a learning experience. This season the recievers and secondary must stepped up to compliment the running game. The line is weak but can be improved.
