Ellison Eagles

ELLISON EAGLES

Head Coach: Jim Skinner (178-75-3)
1998 Record: 9-2 (5-0 in district)
Playoffs: Lost to Duncanville in Bi-District 21-14
Lettermans lost: (42) RB Reggie Duncan, C Greg Barnum, DL Ivory Griffith, DB Carl Ivey, DL Aaron Lard, DB Corrian thompson, DB Andre Moton, LB Jesse Brooks, QB Justin Overstreet, RB Jonathan Daniels, RB Daniel Wood, WR/P Danny Williams, PR K.J. Hendrix, KR Kendrix Pope, K Rocky Danners
Returning starters: (4) DT James Keeon, DE Josh Crocker, DE Chris Wooten, OT DeShon Brown

Outlook: The Ellison Eagles got a new coach and has an entire new starting team. Only 4 players return from a team that went 9-1 and undefeated in district. Last season Ellison was ranked #1 but took an early exit in the playoffs, falling to the hands of the Duncanville Panthers 21-14 in the first round. Now this season, Ellison is the team looking to squeeze in for the last playoff spot. They must replace a numerous amount of all state players including their tailback, Reggie Duncan. Even his two back ups have graduated. QB Justin Overstreet has left he spot open for Enerst Smith and Jakie Brown. The quarterback will get big proctection from OLs Ken McCoy and Tom Tuitasi. On the other side of the ball, DT James Keaton and 305 lb junior Tommy Harris expect to provide big results. At the linebacker position, Ellison hopes new comer Chris Carr and Yamill Le Bron can fill in the void left by second team all state LB Jesse Brooks.

Strength: The offensive and defensive lines. The lines are loaded in size. This is a key in a tought district. The big men up front must provide leadership they are lacking in the skilled position area. Smith is a better runner but Brown is a better thrower.
Weakness: Replacing Duncan will be hard and with new coach Skinner, who will try to guide Robert Sanders who only runs a 4.6, will be tough.
