1999 PREDICTIONS
Outlook: DB Johnny McCoy has tremendous speed (4.38) and WR Steven Murphy led the team in receiving last year with 270 yards and 24 catches. The QB is up for grabs as Larry Boyd, Jarred Milsap, Cullen Mills, and Hobie Rainwater all vied for action last spring. The 'Roos will need a big season from RB Nick Sessions is Killeen is to have any shot at the playoffs. Since Coach Lee Bridges left Austin High in 1995, the 'Roos have been only average. Since their last '94 playoff appearance, the Kangaroos have 21-19 record. Bridges would like for DE Vincent to blitz more often also from linebacker because of his quickness. On the other side of the line, OL Tim Vines is a quick 300 pounder. Last season, the 'Roos lost a league high 17 fumbles and intercepted a league low of 5. Killeen ranked 5th in both offense and defense in district last season.
Strength: The 'Roos come into this season with more depth in size, lots more speed, and experience. Helping the speedy DB McCoy is DB Brandon Hampton who also has great speed. DL Cedric Darden benched 410 lbs last spring.
Weakness: Killeen must find a quarterback. Four guys are up for the starting job. Killeen must find a serious strong armed quarterback to get the ball to Murphy.
