WHO: GARLAND OWLS vs WESTLAKE CHAPARRALS
WHEN/WHERE: 7:30 p.m. at Floyd Casey Stadium, TX
RECORDS: Owls 11-1, Chaps 12-0
PREVIEW: Westlake is looking mighty fine but stills need a lot more offense than they have shown. Last week's 24-10 victory over Conroe along with the 20-17 win over McNeil, have meant the Chaps aren't scoring as they average all year. Despite the lack of competition, the Chaps are still good enough to win this region. Garland is coming off a strong 26-20 win over the Lufkin Panthers. Their main offensive threat is RB Donte Hart a former linebacker who filled in nicely this year. Their defense is superb and can make plays. DB Anthony Jones leads the secondary. Westlake has face tough teams but not as though as it going to get. This is the round where the Chaps exited the playoffs last season. If they chaps don't want to make another repeated exit in the regional round they must have QB Adam Hall throw no interceptions and RB Scott Ballew to run because last week RB Brendan Dewan picked up his slack. The defense for Westlake has to contain the run. The Owls are a passing type of team but Hart is a type of running not to be overlooked. The winner of this regional round faces either Plano East or The Woodlands in quarterfinal round of Division II.

WHO: WACO LIONS vs LEE REBELS
WHEN/WHERE: 2:00 p.m. at Shotwell Stadium in Abilene, TX
RECORDS: Lions 9-3, Rebels 12-0
PREVIEW: This game was suppose to be the 5A Division state championship. Waco denied the Lewisville Fighting Farmers last week. The Lions won 7-0, capitalizing on only 1 of 5 Lewisville turnovers. You might as well mark the Lee Rebels as reigning champions for the second year in a row. Waco's offense was pitiful in last week's 7-0 win. This should have been Lewisville vs. Lee. The defense kept the Lions in the game against the Farmers. They need to do it again if they want to upset #1 Lee. It won't happen. Lee is too powerful and doesn't make many mistakes. Last week they manhandled Franklin 34-20. Last year's surprise in the 54-0 whipping of MacArthur in the state title game is back. RB Cedric Benson and FB Clint McNutt are two players that will give the Rebels big plays and break one from anywhere. QB Jon Rogers is a very accurate thrower who can get it to his receivers which include the two running backs. Defense was concern for Lee this year but they always come together. Look for Waco to put up a fight before falling apart in the second due to lack of offense. The winner (which will be Lee) will go on and face the Bryan-Mesquite winner in the semifinal round of Division I.

WHO: BRYAN VIKINGS vs MESQUITE SKEETERS
WHEN/WHERE: 6:00 p.m. at Texas Stadium in Irving, TX
RECORDS: Vikings 8-4, Skeeters 7-5
PREVIEW: The road is closing in on a cocky Bryan team. The Viking players will be in for a fight. After beating Crockett and Klein, Bryan is thinking very high of themselves. You can't think like that in Texas high school football, especially in the playoffs. Remember last year against 3-7 Bowie? The Bulldogs nearly shocked the Vikes because of their cockiness. The cockiness is back for the Vikes and the Skeeters are ready to brig them down to earth. Mesquite defeated Lee from Tyler, TX 13-10. A Lee team that whipped Bryan 30-10 at Bryan's homecoming game. The Skeeters heart and soul is their defense just as Bryan. The Skeeters have a run stuffer in LB Scott Rutherford. FB/LB Carson O'Neill is a two way star. DB Jeff Skaggs anchors the secondary with all district honors. The offense favors Mesquite. The Skeeters have a great passer and runner in Michael Disman. RB/QB/DB Krys Williams will play part in the offense. The winner faces either Midland Lee or Waco. It will definitely be Lee.
