Preview: Bowie finally got its first win of the season demolishing Reagan 44-28 last week. Pflugerville on the other hand suffered another loss to to Belton. This is a great old rivarly that always have great games. The last time these two teams met on Kuempel Stadium was back in 1996. It was the Panthers homecoming and the game ended in a deadlock 14-14 tie. Then in 1997, Bowie's Victor Ike and Garrett Cox tore up the running game but were stunned in the first ever overtime for both of these teams. Once again this year it is the Pflugerville Panthers homecoming and not only will this game showcase the battle of top state bands, but great running. Last season in Pflugerville's 30-7 win, Anthony Krieg score two touchdowns. He has gained 352 yards this season while scoring 3 of Pflugerville's 7 touchdowns this season. QB Phillip Moss will try to lead a Panther offense that will face a Bulldog defense led by Defensive Player of the Week Jared Moss. Bowie gives up 274 yards a game while grinding up 272.7 yards on offense. Pflugerville gives up a respectable 280.7. Alexis Cooper scored two TDs last week and has gaind 373 yards this season. QB Jason McPhaul scored a TD but Bowie seems to a have a better arm in Ty Brayon.

Against Common Opponents in 1998: McNeil lost to Westwood 21-11, Crockett lost to Westwood 41-18, McNeil beat Austin High 35-12, Crockett beat Austin High 25-0
Preview: McNeil could possibly go undefeated during the pre-season. The Mavs were KEYE team of the week. They are undefeated because of the great playing from QB Jimmy Eiderman, RB Kyle Rogers, and WR Brian Bulte. McNeil's defense is out to be outdone they average 182.3 yards a game. Rogers has 256 yards on the ground, Eiderman has thrown for 3 TDs and 297 yards, and Bulte has 15 receptions for 333 yards and 2 TDs. Backup QB Eric Hafner has too thrown for 3 touchdowns. McNeil dismantled their second AISD team last week, defeating LBJ. As for Crockett, they are on a two game losing streak. Their offense mainly focuses around the trio of QB Cameron Slown, RB Vincent Roland, and RB Raphael Sterns. The offense averages 300 yards a game but the defense is the question as they blew a 20-0 lead going into halftime last week against Westwood. Last season, McNeil won its homecoming game against Crockett 14-7.

Preview: Who would have thought these two teams would have winning records coming into the game? Westwood has defeated two AISD teams from District 14-5A and looks to make it three. They will run the ball with RB Will Matthews who has chalked up 414 yards and 3 TDs. RB Ryan Long has 5 TDs for the Wood. The Maroons defense gives up 300.3 yards a game in which Westwood can improve its 286.7 yards of offense. However, the Warriors Woes continues as QB Zach Meyer (3 rushing TDs) and RB Jason Shields (3 rushing TDs) look to take advantage of a weak defense that gives up a whopping 341.7 yards. Austin High defeated McCallum and Travis coming into the game. Last season, O.J. McClintock of Westwood dominated this game and lead the Warriors to a moshing of the Maroons, 54-0.

Preview: Belton is trying to knock off it's second straight north Austin team in a row. They defeated Georgetown and Pflugerville, play Leander tonight and hosts Round Rock next week. They are basically in district 13-5A. The Tigers have own the Lions since the rivarly began in 1978. Leander hasn't beaten Belton since the early '80s. Last season the Tigers beat Leander in Leander 19-7. The Lions are optismistic and knows Belton isn't a pushover 4A school. Belton was 5A two years and drop to 4A causing Leander to fill in their void in Killeen-Temple-Waco area. The Lions are out for that revenge and run behind FB Matt Davis. Davis leads the pack with 372 yards and 6 touchdowns. QB Chris Ball used his small size to throw 3 TDs last week against Lanier. Defensively Leander is great too. 229 yards a game is credited to LB Odell Grant, who had a blocked kick return for a touchdown. The Lions have great playing from DB Luis Aguero, DL Josh Wharton, Jon Herrin, and Robert Allen. The Tigers offense is an offense headed by QB Cory Fredenburg. He guides an offense that gives up 283.3 yards a game.

Preview: This game will feature a large crowd in attendance. Cove, #5 in state, has Vontez Duff to guide them. His 453 yards rushing and 5 TDs in a key factor in the 'Dogs 369 yards. He has a sore ankle injury but Cove still has enough fire power in them to romped Georgetown. QB Nathaniel Foreman has thrown for 295 yards and 5 TDs.

When/Where: 7:30 p.m. at Dragon Stadium

Preview: The Dragons like to play with the big boys. First they played the other big school in Austin, Bowie, then they played defending 4A champ Stephenville, and last week Class 5A 10th ranked Judson from Converse. The Dragons played tough in all their games but the offense was missing. RB Buzzy Earl is back from injury hoping to improve on a team that averages only 185 yards. QB Cris Love (315 passing, 3 TDS) and WR Jon Peoples (21-196) have hooked up twice for scores. The Dragons will need all the help they can on defense once again to stop the duo from San Marcos. The Rattlers on the other hand have had a weak schedule. They defeated and dominated Stroman, Edison, and Seguin. In every catergory possible they've own. Partly due to RBs Juan Batiste (303 yards) and Lukinrick Ellison (282 yards). San Marcos won last years KVUE game of the week at Bobcat Stadium 29-26.

Preview: Seguin failed to score last week against San Marcos. After blowing out Edison and beating Harlandale the offense seemed to come back to earth. QB Craig Dailey needs to stepped up and be a leader. RB Boomer Jones has 6 TDs this season. The Mats must stop Lee QB Ray Robles. Lee has a veteran defense led by DT Jose Garcia (6'4" 265), DE Jon Ulrich (6'1" 220), and LB Alex DeSoto (6'1" 215 5.1).

Preview: The Unicorns played hanged touch last week against 4A state ranked Clemens. Clay Coleman seems to be the man that does it all for them. Coleman has caught 2 TDs, ran for 2 TDs returned a fumble for one, kicked a field goal, and is 13/13 on XPATs. QB Andy Schmid has thrown for 4 TDs but has struggle as of late. Eric Sultimeirer seems to be his favorite target. The Roughriders bring in an all state LB by the name of Brock Stratton. Look for him to get help from DB Orlando Fernandez. Offensively, Roosevelt have Caryle Holiday at quarterback and Daniel Adams at tight end.

Preview: The Tem-Cats are giving it all for Bob McQueen. The Wildcats are playing a tough game with Permian who are led by all state WR Roy Williams. Another man on that team that can catch uncatachable passes is WR Desmond Hill. The Panthers however have to deal with Tempe's WR Jason Campbell. Kiley Smith must get the job tonight over Dustin Pleasant at quarterback for Temple. Sharrod Bridges and Pente Russell fill in the job at running back nicely.

Preview: Ellison is looking for its first win of the season. Look no further. The Rams may be the team. After a tough loss to Westlake, the Eagles look to bounce back with RB Robert Sanders. He finally got into the end zone. Even K Randy Duwa has scored more points than any other Eagle with 13. Rams are a tri-district champ team with a running back who has a blend of speed and power. John Austin Emmons carries the ball for them.

Preview: The Dragons are coming off a victory of Jasper while Bryan has suffered two games in a row. The Vikings got a score last week by Chris Densey. Bryan has kept each game low this season. The Dragons backfield is made up of quick-footed QB Rico Harris, RB Earl Morris, and Andre Garrett. The Dragons bring in their top LB in D.D. Lee.

Preview: Cedar Park just got done escaping Hutto 17-15 last week. Cedar Park heads back home to face another undefeated team. This time Salado will bring in an all district defensive team of DT Jon Robbins, DE Justin Marshall, DB Mike Gunter, T Matt Gunter, and DB Derek Ward. Offensively, the Eagles have WR Mike Schoepf and WR Paul Lucas to throw to. This 18 senior squad Eagle team are predicted to win 26-2A. All seniors are starting. Cedar Park, on the other hand found that passing was the way to win last week. QB Michael Swoda has only hit TE Aaron Lyons all season. He needs to find other receivers and Quinton Smith must run the ball like he did against Holland if Cedar Park wants to win. Michael McGuinness played well last week for the T'Wolves with 14 tackles.

Preview: The 'Roos got away with a win last week against A&M Consolidated. This week the 'Roos QB John Millsap has a gun that can get the pressure of RB Nick Sessions who has 2 TDs. Killeen can make two point conversions as they are 3/3 with Kevin Johnson receiving passes form Larry Boyd. Steven Murphy had two TDs last week and looks to do it again this week. Madison is coming off a loss and hopes that the defense can come alive with all-district performers Jason Walsh and Josh McElligott. The Mavs also have an all senior secondary.
