Since losing opening day to Bryan, Waco has won three straight and the defense has given up a mere 178.8 yards a game.
Who: PFLUGERVILLE PANTHERS at LEANDER LIONS
When/Where: 7:30 p.m. at A.C. Bible Jr. Memorial Stadium
Records: Panthers 2-2, Lions 3-1
Against Common Opponents in 1998: Pflugerville beat Belton 37-21, Leander lost to Belton 19-7, Pflugerville lost to Killeen 14-7, Leander lost to Killeen 13-7
Against Common Opponents in 1999: Pflugerville lost to Belton 13-7, Leander lost to Belton 23-22
Preview: Leander is coming off its first loss of the season to Belton last week. The Lions high power offense did well before being stunned on a late field goal. The Lions look to bounce back in the battle of cats. Leander QB Paul Thompson is having a great first year switching with Chris Ball. The Lions still average a raging 340.5 yards a game, 1063 yards on the ground in four games total. Matt Davis leads the way with 505 yards on 107 carries with 7 TDs. Kicker Darren Jensen hasn't missed a field goal this season. The Panthers meanwhile didn't have the heart to win last year's game in overtime. The Lions won 10-7 in overtime at Kuempel Stadium. Pflugerville just came off an unbelievably lucky upset homecoming win over Bowie 21-2. Now they must spoil Leander's homecoming night. RB Sean Petty was the man they gave it to last week. He and RB Anthony Krieg has gained a combine 787 yards on the ground and 7 TDs. QB Phillip Moss showed some great movement with the ball last week. Twice he was 1st and long and yet managed to lead the Panthers in scoring drives. On defense, Derek Parker had a great game in stopping the little nigger white boy from Bowie. Fuck that little bitch OL Dylan Gandy.
Who: WESTWOOD WARRIORS at KILLEEN KANGAROOS
When/Where: 7:30 p.m. at Leo Buckley Stadium
Records: Warriors 3-1, Kangaroos 1-3
Against Common Opponents in 1998: Westwood lost to Copperas Cove 28-7, Killeen lost to Copperas Cove 58-0
Preview: Once again Westwood is 3-1 and could be 4-1 going into district play next week at Georgetown. RB Ryan Long has 10 TDs and leads the Super Centex region in scoring. RB Will Matthews leads central Texas in rushing with 553 yards. The Warriors average 293 yards and have been giving up a respectable 279.3 yards a game. Killeen only gains 277 yards of offense in a disappointing non-district season. The defense has been superb, 216.5 yards a game. Westwood won its only ever meeting over the 'Roos behind O.J. McClintock 28-14 last year.
Who: ROUND ROCK DRAGONS at BELTON TIGERS
When/Where: 7:30 p.m. at Tiger Stadium
Records: Dragons 1-3, Tigers 4-0
Against Common Opponents in 1998: Belton lost to Georgetown 14-0, Round Rock lost to Georgetown 21-9, Belton lost to Pflugerville 37-21, Georgetown beat Pflugerville 20-3
Preview: Belton knocked off four 5A teams in a row. That includes teams Round Rock plays in district. After defeating Georgetown, Pflugerville, and Leander, the Tigers are out to make it five 5A teams in a row. Round Rock should be no different. QB Cody Frendenburg has thrown for 353 yards 4 TDs and 3 INTS in 3 games. The defense is their main attraction. They are third in 4A Centex with 226.3 yards. The Dragons have lost two years in a row in San Marcos on a minute late drive. They seemed to can't finished games without getting a break. Judson and Stephenville slipped by while Bowie just handed the ball back to Round Rock repeatedly. The Dragons need to boost their offense that only gains 234.5 yards a game. RB Buzzy Earl has once again for the third year in a row been a disappointment. Nic Noel has the duties with 308 yards in 4 games. QB Cris Love has thrown 5 TDs with only 1 INT. Round Rock won last year's game 10-7 on a kickoff return by slow ass Greg Buhl.
Who: BASTROP BEARS at McNEIL MAVERICKS
When/Where: 7:30 p.m. at Dragon Stadium
Records: Bears 3-1, Mavericks 3-1
Against Common Opponents in 1998: n/a
Preview: McNeil returns the favor this year by hosting a homecoming game against Bastrop. The Bears won their homecoming last year by squeaking by the Mavs 30-28. McNeil is coming off a devastating loss to Crockett last week. The Mavs offense was totally shutdown in the second half. QB Jimmy Eiderman needs to find WR Brian Bulte if McNeil is to bounce back. They can take advantage of a Bear defense that gives up 350.8 yards game. Bastrop's offense meanwhile tries to make up for it as much as it can. QB Clellan Hyatt has thrown 8 TDs with 596 yards. The offense racks up 344.3 yards a game. The Bears are coming off a shootout win over University 46-28.
Who: JUDSON ROCKETS at TEMPLE WILDCATS
When/Where: 7:30 p.m. at Wildcat Stadium
Records: Rockets 3-1, Wildcats 3-1
Against Common Opponents in 1998: n/a
Preview: Permian just blanked the 'Cats last week 25-0. The offense wasn't there at all. WR Jason Campbell has 203 yards this year in four games. Temple needs him to step up if they want to upset Judson. This must be the year of 2 QBs as Temple along with McNeil, Leander, Bowie, University of Michigan, UCLA, Penn State, use two quarterbacks. Dustin Pleasant has 254 yards passing. Judson is coming off a bye week and is ranked in state. Judson last played was when they beat Round Rock 24-7. RB Chris Brown carries the ball and Jarrett Jachade is the quarterback.
Who: SEGUIN MATADORS at ROOSEVELT ROUGHRIDERS
When/Where: 7:30 p.m. at San Antonio
Records: Matadors 3-1, Roughriders 4-0
Against Common Opponents in 1998: Seguin lost to New Braunfels 23-7, Roosevelt lost to New Braunfels 34-25
Preview: Boomer Jones is grinding his butt off for Seguin. He has 379 yards this year and Craig Daily has thrown for 312 yards and 2 TDs. Seguin offense doesn't match up up too well against Roosevelt, who just pounded New Braunfels last week. The Mats beat Lee last week 18-7 but needs help to bolster a defense that gives up a respectable 260 yards. LB Brock Stratton has been a key player for Roosevelt. Roosevelt won last year's game 27-17.
Who: GEORGETOWN EAGLES at MIDWAY PANTHERS
When/Where: 7:30 p.m. at Panther Stadium
Records: Eagles 1-3, Panthers 3-1
Against Common Opponents in 1998: N/A
Preview: RB Brandon Williams has 501 yards rushing but hasn't proven himself as a winner in Georgetown. Lee Lundin and Jomo Rose had success in non-district play. Things should hopefully change for the Eagles as they tuned up against a Panther team they defeated last year 27-12. The defense of Georgetown is ranked 17th out of 18 teams in 5A. They give up 323.3 yards a game, split time between pass and rush. The Eagles host Westwood next week for district. Midway attacks with TB B.J. Head. What a name. TE Billy Nelson is a passing threat and OL Nick Harris plays well at guard.
Who: ELLISON EAGLES at COOPER COUGARS
When/Where: 7:30 p.m. at Abilene
Records: Eagles 0-4, Cougars 2-1
Against Common Opponents in 1998: N/A
Preview: Ellison is still looking for its first win of the season. It seemed for sure last week that that could do it against Marshall. Austin American Statemans writer predicts the Eagles to beat Cooper. The Eagles are the worst offense, next to Austin High. The defense is no better ranking 16th out of 18. The Eagles must provide some sort of offense to even think about staying in the game. K Randy Duwa seems to be the only one scoring this year. The spoiled Eagles haven't bounce back from losing RB Reggie Duncan and Justin Overstreet.
Who: LEE RED RAIDERS at BYRAN VIKINGS
When/Where: 7:30 p.m. at Kyle Field
Records: Vikings 2-2
Against Common Opponents in 1998: N/A
Preview: It's homecoming week in Bryan. The Vikings have just even their record with a decisive 19-10 win over the Dragons of Nacogdoches last week. Bryan's defense gives up 227 yards a game and offensively racks up only 239 yards. The Red Raiders are coming off 9-3 Division I regional finalist season. They look to do it again by closing out the preseason with a win over former rival Bryan. WR/DB Tyrone Walker is the man to watch. He can make plays for a team that lost all the offensive starters to graduation.
Who: CHURCHILL CHARGERS at NEW BRAUNFELS UNICORNS
When/Where: 7:30 p.m. at New Braunfels
Records: Chargers 1-3, Unicorns 2-2
Against Common Opponents in 1998: N/A
Preview: New Braunfels is having a stellar season from their players. Despite their 2-2 record, the Unicorns have the #2 passer in Central Texas behind the arm of QB Andy Schimd. Eric Sultimeirer is his big target who has caught 15 318 yards. Clay Coleman can play too. The Chargers, a San Antonio base team, have the Unicorns former rival coach. Former Canyon coach Carl Guftason became the 3rd coach in the 90s for Churchill. The Chargers offensive line has grown and is bulked up by two-way player OL/DL Greg Sanders.
Who: BOWIE BULLDOGS at MacARHTUR BRAHMAS
When/Where: 2 p.m. at Northeast Stadium
Records: Bulldogs 1-3, Brahmas 4-1
Against Common Opponents in 1998: None
Preview: Bowie tailback Alexis Cooper screwed Bowie last week with four fumbles. The offense had some spark in Ty Branyon at quarterback. If they can get a running ground going without the marijuana infested Cooper, Bowie might stand a chance in this game. The Dawgs muster only 275 yards a game while surrendering 277 yards on defense. Last week, special teams was excellent, WR Chris Cox had good return yards while David Cavazos blocked a punt for the Bulldogs lonely 2 points against Pflugerville. Bowie also blocked a field goal attempt. DE Justin Reed made big plays last week on the Panther tailback and sacked the Panther quarterback. The Brahmas meanwhile look to make a repeat of last year's 17-0 win. Ranked 10th in state, MacArthur is the runner up in state. They have 25 letterman this year DL Brandon Conyers will be a big factor in pressuring Bowie quarterbacks. He stands at 6'1", 225 lbs, 4.7 speed. He made 135 tackles and 7 sacks last season. Look for him to get help from other all district players. Bowie games usually end up on how many mistakes they make. The fewer the better off they are.
Who: CROCKETT COUGARS at MADISON MAVERICKS
When/Where: 6:30 p.m. at Northeast Stadium
Records: Cougars 2-2, Mavericks 2-2
Against Common Opponents in 1998: N/A
Preview: The Cougars didn't blow a lead last week against McNeil. After posting an even record the Cougars are favored to get revenged from a spanking by Madison last year. The Mavs won 40-12 last year. QB Cameron Slown has been given great praise about him running the option to perfection. However, Crockett doesn't have one player in the top 10 rushing, top 15 passing, or top 15 receiving. It's the defense that keeps them in the game. The offense doesn't score much but the defense has allowed 200.3 yards a game. Crockett scored last week on defense that lifted them the win over McNeil. Madison meanwhile must stop their momentum, for Bowie's playoff sakes at least. They too bring a solid defense. Six returning starters including all district performers LB Jason Walsh and DL Josh McElligott. Madison is coming off a loss to Killeen on Saturday and UIL rules that teams must have more than 4 days of rest between games, so they game was re-scheduled from Thursday to Saturday.

Records: Eagles 2-2, Timberwolves 4-0
Against Common Opponents in 1998: N/A
Preview: Surprise, surprise. The player of the week goes to RB Quinton Smith of Cedar Park. He gained 257 yards in leading the T'Wolves to victory. Cedar Park is going to face a Jarrell team that outscored its opponents this season 112-69, before having homecoming next week against newly born Stony Point from Round Rock I.S.D. 352 yards of offense and 247.8 yards on defense is what the Eagles bring to the table.
