Against Common Opponents in 1999: None

Preview: Last week, McNeil proved they are not district title contenders by losing it big at Bryan. They gave up 34 points to a Bryan team that averages half of that. McNeil's offense racks up 308 yards a game and gives up 214.7 yards. RB Kyle Rogers has 537 yards this year. QB Jimmy Eiderman is the lone QB now by passing for 544 yards and tossing 6 TDs and 3 INTs. WR Brian Bulte is second in receiving yards with 582 yards on 28 catches. Round Rock meanwhile aren't even playoff contenders. The offense gains only 233.2 yards. The defense isn't good either by giving up 300.2 yards. Last week, they were pummeled by nemesis Pflugerville 24-14. The Dragons won last year's game 13-10.

Who: BOWIE BULLDOGS at NEW BRAUNFELS UNICORNS

Records: Bulldogs 2-4 (1-0 in district), Unicorns 4-2 (1-0 in district)
Series: Unicorns lead 3-0
Against Common Opponents in 1999: None

Preview: Both team won district openers last week. Most impressively, Bowie shutout Crockett and are headed to the playoffs once again. Bowie has not scored an offensive touchdown in regulation since they whipped Reagan on September 17. The Dawgs only mustered 229 yards of offense. The defense is the heart and soul of this team. Last week the held a magnificent goal line stance to force overtime. Led by DL Justin Reed, the defense gives up a respectable 262. The Unicorns have a great passing attack under the arm of QB Andy Schmid (991 yards, 8 TDS, 3 INTs). His favorite target is WR Eric Sultimerier (24-603 yards). Bowie has never beaten the German fuckers from New Braunfels. If they want to win, all they have to do is get in their pass-oriented defense. Double cover or triple cover Sultimerier. The Unicorns have no running game what so ever. 303.7 yards in offense a game and they average 124 yards on the ground. They have the worst defense in central Texas by giving up 320.5 yards a game, 15 more yards than the next team. Last year, New Braunfels won 31-17 after struggling early.

Who: CROCKETT COUGARS at WESTLAKE CHAPARRALS
When/Where: 7:30 p.m. at Chaparral Stadium
Records: Cougars 2-4 (0-1 in district), Chaps 6-0 (1-0 in district)
Against Common Opponents in 1999: None

Preview: Westlake is trying for a 3 peat shutout of AISD teams. Last week they held Austin to 35 yards in total offense and won 51-0. Next week they have Bowie. Crockett is coming off its 8 straight loss to Bowie and heads for basketball season. The Chaps average 363.5 yards in offense, look for that to go 400 by the end of the season. The defense is solid even without LB Colby Clark. The Chaps defense is averaging 200.3, 3rd in central Texas. The 4th ranked Chaps are going to get this game easily. Crockett averages 272 yards in offense. Last week, they were ram shackled by Bowie. If they couldn't score against Bowie, they can't score against Westlake. Last year the Chaps won 51-2.

Who: AUSTIN HIGH MAROONS at SEGUIN MATADORS
When/Where: 7:30 p.m. at Matador Stadium
Records: Maroons 2-4 (0-1 in district), Matadors 3-3 (0-1 in district)
Against Common Opponents in 1999: None

Preview: Austin High as expected were thrashed by Westlake and Seguin was beaten by New Braunfels. This is the game to see who will end up in the basement. It seems both teams have no strengths but Seguin has the edge. The Maroons have the worst offense. They can't run the wishbone offense. They average 142.5 yards a game and had 0 rushing yards last week. 35 total offense yards. Seguin does a little better with 250 yards. QB Craig Dailey throws the ball up for grabs. He has 2 TDs but 8 INTS. RB Boomer Jones seems to be the Matadors way of scoring. 9 TDs by rushing for 508 yards in 6 games. The Maroons still average nearly 300 yards on defense while Seguin gives up 275. Last year, Seguin won in Austin 10-7.

Who: PFLUGERVILLE PANTHERS at WESTWOOD WARRIORS

When/Where: 7:30 p.m. at Dragon Stadium
Records: Panthers 3-3 (1-0 in district), Warriors 4-2 (0-1 in district)
Against Common Opponents in 1999: Pflugerville beat Bowie 21-2, Westwood beat Bowie 22-12,

Preview: The Warriors were cheated out of a touchdown last week in Georgetown. RB Ryan Long (452 yards, 11 TDs) apparently crossed the goal line and walk in 2 yards before being stripped by an Eagle defender and had the TD waived offf. Westwood lost 17-14. That puts the blemishes on homecoming week. This week they hope to regain momentum against Pflugerville. The Panthers rocked Dragon stadium last week with a 24-14 win over Round Rock. RB Anthony Kreig has 622 yards 4 TDs. OL Dylan Gandy is still a faggoty bitch. The Panther "D" must stop Long along with RB Will Matthews, who has 729 yards. This is the 4th week in a row Pflugerville has faced a premiere running. First it was Bowie's Alexis Cooper, Leander's Matt Davis, Round Rock's Buzzy Earl, and now Matthews and Long. Next week, they will have McNeil and then Georgetown's Brandon Williams. Both Pflugerville and Westwood average the same yards in offense while defensively the Warriors are better. Westwood won last year's game 34-13.

Who: BRYAN VIKINGS at GEORGETOWN EAGLES
When/Where: 7:30 p.m. at Eagle Field
Records: Vikings 3-3( 1-0 in district), Eagles 2-4 (1-0 in district)
Against Common Opponents in 1998: None

Preview: As expected during preseason, this game is to prove who will win district. Bryan has the edge with the strong defense. Georgetown has Centex leading rusher in RB Brandon Williams. He has 819 yards. The Eagles won homecoming last week over Westwood while Bryan knocked off McNeil. Bryan wins on defense as their offense has nothing to show but a 226.3 average. The defense is a respectable 262. The Eagles bring in a 314 offense that is not a fluke because they ran over these teams: Westlake, Hays, Midway, Westwood, Belton, and Copperas Cove. The defense gives up and that's why they're 2-4. 299.2 yards on defense needs to be improve. Bryan showed offense scoring last week. Last year, Bryan whipped Georgetown's ass 52-21.

Who: TEMPLE WILDCATS at LEANDER LIONS

Records: Lions 4-2 (0-1 in district), Wildcats 4-2 (1-0 in district)
Against Common Opponents in 1998: None

Preview: Another taming of the Lions. Last week, Temple dismantled Waco 10-7. Leander's offense was shutdown last week by Cove. The defense fell apart and gave up 42 points. RB Matt Davis has 796 yards on the season and if Leander wants to make the playoffs, they need him to run like he did prior to district. Temple meanwhile, don't have explosiveness on offense. WR Jason Campbell only has 266 yards receiving. The defense makes the game intresting. They kept the 'Cats in the game and they average a respectable 261.3. Last year, the 'Cats romped Leander 49-21.

Who: ELLISON EAGLES at COPPERAS COVE BULLDOGS
When/Where: 7:30 p.m. at Bulldog Stadium
Records: Eagles 2-4 (1-0 in district), Bulldogs 6-0 (1-0 in district)
Against Common Opponents in 1999:None

Preview: Last week flipped flop almost every team's non-district season. Leander was 4-1 but lost, Ellison was 1-4 and won. This week if Ellison has a shot of upsetting Cove, then they must improve on their 305 yard defense. That's not good news when your're up against #5 Copperas Cove who thrashed mighty Leander last week. RB Vontez Duff has gained 670 yards on 90 carries while scoring 7 TDs and throwing for a couple. The Cove offense racks up 354 yards. The undefeated season is also due to the passing of QB Nathenial Formeman 702 yards, 8 TDs, 2 INTs. WR Jason Mathenia caught 29 passes for 502 yards in leading the receiving core . The defense is #1 in central Texas by shutting down the running of Leander. They average a very low 193 yards a game. Last season, Ellison trip Cove for a win.

Who: WACO LIONS at KILLEEN KANGAROOS
When/Where: 7:30 p.m. at Leo Buckley Stadium Stadium
Records: Lions 3-3 (0-1 in district), Kangaroos 2-4 (0-1 in district)
Against Common Opponents in 1998: None

Preview: Waco suffered a heartbreaker last losing 10-7 to Temple while Killeen got whipped by city rival Ellison. Waco hopes to bounce back a by attacking Killeen with the pass. QB Johnny Akers figures to change the offense with his passing without injured star RB DeMarcus Carter. Killeen meanwhile are done for the season. They will be the basement dwellers in District 8-5A. Though they had a respectable season by averaging 254 yards on offense and 269.2 yards on defense, they have always been an average team. They are done like dinner. Last season Waco tore up Killeen.

Who: CEDAR PARK TIMBERWOLVES at ST. JOSEPH's ROYALS
When/Where: 7:30 p.m. at Victoria
Records: Timberwovles 6-0, St. Joseph's n/a
Against Common Opponents in 1998: None

Preview: After facing a team that fared better than they did in their first year of play, Cedar Park travels to Victoria to face the Royals of St. Joseph's. The Royals are in District 3-5A of the TAAPS conference. Last season, the Royals crush the little wolves. Now, Cedar Park hopes to return the favor with RB Quniton Smith. He crossed the 1,000-yard mark in rushing with his homecoming performance last week. He now has 1,095 with 14 TDs in just 6 games. Though, they came against no name schools, he adds to a team that racks up 464.7 yards in offense. 2402 yards on the ground this year is what CPHS has done against 2A, A, and JV teams. Of course anybody can do that but they also shutdown teams with their defense that gives up a mere 140.8 yards a game. John McMillian heads the defense.
