Who: SEGUIN MATADORS at CROCKETT COUGARS
When/Where:7:30 p.m. at Burger Center
Records: Matadors 4-3 (1-1 in district), Cougars 2-5 (0-2 in district)
Against Common Opponents in 1999: None
Preview: Crockett has once again shot themselves in the foot. 0-2 in district and last week QB Cameron Slown was injured late in the game. Once again Anton Mackey did a nice job and actually scored. Seguin handle Austin High nicely. Crockett may have the defensive edge (243.4 vs. 265.4) in the game but they have the least amount of points by any of the eighteen 5A teams (75 points). The Cougars have only scored 14 points in the last 3 games. Last season, Crockett handed Seguin a 21-6 loss. Seguin, meanwhile, have once again come into this game 1-1 in district. Boomer Jones has 11 TDs this year for them.
Who: NEW BRAUNFELS UNICORNS at AUSTIN HIGH MAROONS
When/Where: 7:30 p.m. at House Park
Records: Unicorns 5-2 (2-0 in district), Maroons 2-5 (0-2 in district)
Against Common Opponents in 1999: New Braunfels beat Seguin 36-15, Austin High lost to Seguin 20-15
Preview: New Braunfels successfully manhandle Bowie last week while Austin High found out they are the basement dwellers for the second year in a row. RB Daniel Strange ran for 189 yards last week and now has 655 yards. The main offense circles around WR Eric Sultimerier and QB Andy Schmid. Schmid is one of two passers who have crossed the 1,000-yard mark in passing with 1178 yards including 14 TDs, eight of which has gone to Sultimerier (27-653 yards). The Unicorns defense has cut down from 320 yards to 297.6 better than Austin High's 299.1. Offensively, the Maroons are the worst ever. 158.1 yards a game. The Maroons have no top 10 rusher and QB Zach Meyer has thrown a TD pass this year. He has thrown six interceptions. Last year, New Braunfels won 17-6.

Who: WESTLAKE CHAPARRALS at BOWIE BULLDOGS
When/Where: 7:30 p.m. at Burger Center
Records: Chaps 7-0 (2-0 in district), Bulldogs 2-5 (1-1 in district)
Series: Chaparrals lead 9-0
Against Common Opponents in 1999: Westlake beat Reagan 42-0, beat Crockett 32-6, Bowie beat Reagan 44-28, Crockett 8-0 (OT)
Preview: Westlake's high power offense is too much for any of District 14-5A teams too handle. Last week, after dismantling Crockett 32-0, the Chaps have figure out which team they will play in the playoffs. The winner of the McNeil-Pflugerville game will play at Westlake. Meanwhile, Bowie suffered another loss to New Braunfels. If Bowie wants this to be a happy homecoming then they must produce a running game. RB Alexis Cooper has been getting very little playing time after a poor performance in non-district. The Dawgs have never beaten Westlake in 9 tries and probably won't beat them this year. Westlake has the #1 offense and the #2 defense in central Texas. Bowie has the #16 offense and #11 defense. Westlake, ranked #2 in 5A, has been playing without defensive star LB Colby Clark. Reserve Pat Chalmers has been playing well as a backup player. QB Alvin Cowan has thrown for 1181 yards, 9 TDs, and 3 INTs. WRs Reid Brees and Christian Campbell had fun picking apart the Cougar defense last week and will have fun doing it against a Bulldog defense that doesn't have DBs Adam Roche and Aaron White. Bowie will be burnt by the pass all night long. The Westlake receiving tandem is too much for Bowie DBs Chris Cox and Alex Cantu. Look for Bowie to blame the loss of them and the lack of running game by Cooper. Last year Bowie hung tough for a half before losing 31-3 at Chaparral Stadium.
Who: GEORGETOWN EAGLES at ROUND ROCK DRAGONS
When/Where: 7:30 p.m. at Dragon Stadium
Records: Eagles 3-4 (2-0 in district), Dragons 1-6 (0-2 in district)
Against Common Opponents in 1999: Georgetown lost to Belton 20-14, Round Rock lost to Belton 21-0
Preview: You can crown the Eagles district champions. Mark my word for it. Last week's impressive win over Bryan proved the Eagles are rolling like last year. Round Rock is heading in the opposite direction. The Dragons have lost 6 straight games. They don't even compete in district. Pflugerville won 24-14 and McNeil won 25-7. QB Cris Love is 4th in passing but he can't seem to guide an offense the only gains 226. The Dragons have the least amount of rushing yards as a team. Look for the Dragons to lose their remaining games including the rival game to Westwood, to finish 1-9, with a 9 game losing streak. Georgetown's RB Brandon Williams is outrunning them himself. He has 996 vs. 666 of Round Rock. Last year, Georgetown won homecoming 21-9 against Round Rock.
Who: WESTWOOD WARRIORS at BRYAN VIKINGS
When/Where: 7:30 p.m. at Viking Field
Records: Warriors 4-3 (0-2 in district), Vikings 3-4 (1-1 in district)
Against Common Opponents in 1999: Westwood lost to Georgetown 17-14, Bryan lost to Georgetown 17-10
Preview: The Warriors just can't seem to get a brake these days. After back to back losses after costly screw ups, the Warriors are already looking forward to basketball season. Last week, a dumb Warrior defender caught a game tying field goal in his hands and tossed it backwards as time expired. Pflugerville recovered in the end zone and won the game. Sitting at 0-2, Westwood is just playing for pride unless they can pull this upset wins over Bryan and McNeil. The Vikes have no offense and it cost them the district title to Georgetown last week. Last year, Bryan spoiled the Warriors homecoming with a 48-7 stomping. RB Ryan Long of Westwood has 12 TDs and RB Will Matthews has 773 yards on the ground. Filling in for ineffective Evan Wiatrek is Brent Clevlen.
Who: McNEIL MAVERICKS at PFLUGERVILLE PANTHERS
When/Where: 7:30 p.m. at Kuempel Stadium
Records: Mavericks 5-2 ( 1-1 in district), Panthers 4-3 (2-0 in district)
Against Common Opponents in 1998: McNeil beat Round Rock 25-7, Pflugerville beat Round Rock 24-14
Preview: Pflugerville caught a break last week. Literally. The Panthers sit atop District 13-5A with a 2-0 record. McNeil finally got a win by defeating cross town rival Round Rock. This game will determine who goes to the playoffs and faces Westlake. Pflugerville biggest star this year is RB Anthony Krieg. He recovered the fumble last week and has churned up 736 yards 6 TDs. Sean Petty is slowed with an injury. The Panthers defense has been living up to the expectations from their coaching staff. The keep opponents to a 278.1 offense. Give credit to Derek Parker. But Dylan Gandy is still tity baby bitch. McNeil meanwhile may have the upper hand in this game. RB Paul Gray ran well last week. The Mavs can counter with many different attacks. WR Brian Bulte (31-665 yards), RB Kyle Rogers (601 rushing yards), and QB Jimmy Eiderman (691 yards, 7 TDs). K Matt Lucas kicked 4 FGs off the bench last week. Last year, McNeil won its only district game over Pflugerville 6-3.
Who: LEANDER LIONS at ELLISON EAGLES
When/Where: 7:30 p.m. at Leo Buckley Stadium
Records: Lions 4-3 (0-2 in district), Eagles 2-5 (1-1 in district)
Against Common Opponents in 1998: Leander lost to Copperas Cove 42-10, Ellison lost to Copperas Cove 27-6
Preview: Leander and Ellison have gotten Cove out of the way. Leander also has gotten Temple out of the way. If the Lions want to make the playoffs they have to win out. Including Waco. They said that last year but failed to win any games. Is this year nay different? Nope. Look for Leander to go 1-4 in district. The Eagles are coming into this game being tampered by cove 27-6. Look for them to stop Matt Davis. He has been stuffed in district play. He could have a breakout game against the worst ranked defense in central Texas. The key word is he could, not will. QB Chris Ball played well for them at WR and QB Paul Thompson played averaged. The Lions hung tough for only the first half of each of their two district games. It's De Ja Vu all over again. Last season, they didn't score or compete in the second half of any district games, and so far it's a repeat. Ellison won last year despite no scoring from RB Reggie Duncan 34-9.
Who: KILLEEN KANGAROOS at TEMPLE WILDCATS
When/Where: 7:30 p.m. at Wildcat Stadium
Records: Kangaroos 2-5 (0-2 in district), Wildcats 5-2 (2-0 in district)
Against Common Opponents in 1999: None
Preview: Killeen speedy defense doesn't make up for a lack of an offense. 81 points is all they scored this year. RB Nick Sessions has 653 yards but QB John Milsap has 398 yards passing with 8 INTs. Killeen cannot just give the ball away, especially with Temple. The 'Cats offense gain over 300 yards a game behind the passing of QB Dustin Pleasant. Last week he connected with WR Jason Campbell for a 69 yard TD. The 'Cats defense managed to hold teams to a 251 yard average. Killeen can look forward to next week's game with Leander to decide who is the basement dwellers while Temple is ready for Copperas Cove and the district title. Last year, Temple beat Killeen.
Who: COPPERAS COVE BULLDOGS at WACO LIONS
When/Where: 7:30 p.m. at Lion Stadium
Records: Bulldogs 7-0 (2-0 in district), Lions 4-3 (1-1 in district)
Against Common Opponents in 1998: None
Preview: Waco is just like Bryan. A defensive team with a weak offense. They can hang tough with state ranked teams. Cove is ranked 4th in state. Every game Waco has enter has been close. The Lions have the #1 defense and they need to step up against the #2 offense. Earlier this year, Waco kept the Chaps offense in check and lost only by 8 points, 14-6. If the offense can wake up and score some points the Lions can pull an upset. Cove, meanwhile, is just on a scoring spree. They have outscored their opponents 69-16 in district play. QB Nathaniel Foreman has 10 TDs with 893 yards passing. His favorite target is WR Jason Mathenia (34-603 yards). Last year, Waco knocked off Cove.
Who: LAGO VISTA VIKINGS at CEDAR PARK TIMBERWOLVES
When/Where: 7:30 p.m. at Cedar Park High School
Records: Vikings n/a, Timberwovles 7-0
Against Common Opponents in 1999: None
Preview: Okay, Cedar Park will wipe out Lago Vista. There's nothing the Vikings can do to prevent this from happening. Earlier, CPHS blanked the Vikings 61-0. The game is held at Cedar Park High school but Lago Vista doesn't have a field and have already came to Cedar Park. This game will be feature the T'wolves in their home jerseys and the Vikings in their home jerseys. This is Lago Vista's homecoming. RB Quinton Smith has 14 TDs 1261 rushing yards . CPHS has 449.9 yards in offense. Special Teams and defense can score. Last week, it was 18-0 in favor of Cedar Park before the offense could even tally up points. Two safeties and two interceptions for TDs. RB Raymond Ferguson has over 600 yards. The defense of Cedar Park is a stingy one by giving up only 180.1. Cedar Park's biggest challenge is Scared Heart next week.
